CRC Dumporijo celebrates youth foundation day

ITANAGAR, Nov 23: The 9th foundation day of Christian Revival Church Dumporijo was celebrated with a two-day programme at Dumporijo recently.

Pipe Kena, Children Teacher CRC Dumporijo led the celebration as chairman.

Tako Yudik, church general secretary, CRC, Dumporijo and Speaker of the function, shared words of god on theme “flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart” (II Timothy 2:22).

Evan. Roman Hali. Pastor CRC Dumporijo and Tonia Marde, Youth Chairman, APCRC sub council Upper Subansiri also attended the function.

Speaking on the concluding day function, Aku Paksok, Youth Pastor CRC Dumporijo encouraged each and every youth to maintain the true meaning of Christianity by standing firm on god’s words.

Various sports, literary and cultural competitions were organized among the youths of the CRC.

“James House” was adjudged the “overall champion and disciplined” House.

NHPC contributes electrical items to Singsur Ani Gompa

ITANAGAR, Nov 23: NHPC Limited contributed one inverter, three batteries and 50 CFLs to Singsur Ani Gompa (Lhou) under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development activities.

The electrical items were handed over to the Gompa authority in presence of Lhou circle officer Choiki Dondup.

Singsur Ani Gompa is one of the most beautiful nunneries of Tawang district located in Lhou circle of Jang sub-division. It is a cultural and learning centre for Buddhist nuns.

The requirement of the above items was put forward by nuns to the Tawang Deputy Commissioner and General Manager of NHPC during their visit to the gompa in March, 2013.

Indigenous food and handicrafts festival begins

KHONSA, Nov 23: Additional Deputy Commissioner Humjong Matcha inaugurated an indigenous food cum handficrafts festival organized as a part of the Chalo Loku festival at Nehru Stadium here today.

The ADC said, “The internal culture left by our ancestors should be preserved, protected and promoted and exposed the rich culture beyond the district and the country.” He appreciated the Self Help Group for their participation and hoped that this indigenous food and handicrafts festival will help the local people to show-case the indigenous food and handicrafts, items, like jumin, todoh, ngawih, wakdituk.

A musical night also was organized in the evening which was witnessed by hundreds of music lovers. The popular local band " Blue Ink” and the local upcoming artists enthralled the huge crowd.

Altogether 18 stalls have been put up in the festival ground. Villagers from all areas enthusiastically participated in the festival today. DIPRO

NSS celebrates communal harmony week

ITANAGAR, Nov 23: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of College of Horticulture and Forestry, Central Agricultural University, Pasighat celebrated the communal harmony week today.

Dr AK Pandey, Dean, CHF, administered the pledge of national integration to the NSS volunteers and staff. Pandey said, “We should respect others religions and must live together in peace and harmony.”

Earlier, the NSS volunteers took out a rally from CHF campus to Gandhi Chowk Pasighat and shouted slogan of communal harmony.

Earlier, NSS program officer of CHF KS Tomar explained about the importance of Communal Harmony Week and Flag Day.

He also distributed flag stickers among the NSS volunteers and staff for raising fund.

Dr. TS Mehra, Dr Bhanu Mishra, Dr Amit Singh were also present on the occasion.

Intaya Public School celebrates foundation day

ROING, Nov 23: The 15th Foundation Day of Intaya Public School was celebrated in a befitting manner in the school premises here yesterday.

Attending the function, Sandeep Kumar Singh, Assistant Commissioner, motivated the students to aim high and study hard to do well in school to secure a bright future. He hoped that the school would produce many more good students and bring laurels to the district, the state and nation as a whole. House, granary gutted

ZIRO, Nov 23: A newly constructed residential house and a granary were reduced to ashes in a devastating fire that broke out at around 10 am at Dutta village today.

However there was no any report of causality.

The fire was brought under control by the fire brigades from Old Ziro and Hapoli before further spreading.

Meanwhile, local MLA Padi Richo. after visiting the spot, has assured to provide CGI sheets to both the victims for reconstruction of their house and the granary.

The District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO) Nima Drema, ZPM Bamin Siri and OC PS Ziro Joram Tugu also visited spot.

Social service conducted

ITANAGAR, Nov 23: A mass social service with theme theme ‘Clean & Green Society’ covering entire colonies/sectors under Ward No. 5 from RK Mission gate to DNGC gate was organized by Ward No. 5 Youth Welfare Association (WYWA) today.

More than three quintals of garbage was collected from the roadside during the day-long cleanliness drive. Sector and colony roads were also repaired.

WYWA also distributed handmade brooms to the shopkeepers, tempo drivers and people residing alongside the NH-52A.

GWS demands speedy trial

ITANAGAR, Nov 23: Galo Students’ Union (GWS), while commending the efforts of Basar and Tirbin Police station OCs and Basar ADC in nabbing the culprits involved in the rape and murder of a minor girl, has demanded that the trial of the accused be conducted in fast- track court so that justice is delivered to the victim at the earliest. GWS also demanded exemplary punishment of all the culprits.

Cleanliness drive by Smiller Youth Club

ITANAGAR, Nov 23: Smiller Youth Club of ESS-Sector organized a cleanliness drive from ICICI Bank upto Hill Top Colony under Ward No 12 here today. The members of the club cleaned the choked drains, filled up the potholes and cleared road side weeds/jungle during the cleanliness drive.

Governor’s GK quiz competition held

ITANAGAR, Nov 23: Pawan Jomoh and Taso Lapung of Govt Higher Secondary School, Seppa of East Kameng district bagged the first position in the State Level Governor’s GK quiz competition, 2013 held at Govt Higher Secondary School, Itanagar today.

Abhinav Dwiwedi and Raj Tilak Bhowmick of GHSS, Tezu bagged the second position and Alexander Mitkong and Kangge Taki of GHSS, Mebo of East Siang district stood third.

RGU Convocation on Nov 30

ITANAGAR, Nov 23: President of India Pranab Mukherjee will address the 12th Convocation of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) on November 30.

The date of Convocation was wrongly mentioned as November 29 instead of November 30 in a news item provided by news agency PTI which was published in this daily on November 23 issue.

ANYA unit organizes traffic awareness campaign at Seppa

ITANAGAR, Nov 23: All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) East Kameng district unit in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) organized an awareness campaign at Abotani Manch, Seppa to sensitize the masses about traffic rules and regulations in view of the rising incidents of road accidents.

Public leaders, officials from district administration and representatives from auto-rickshaw union attended the campaign.

Attending the programe, Superindent of Police A. Tamut highlighted the various traffic signs and rules of the road and suggested ANYA unit for organizing such awareness campaign at every school in the district to educate the school children about the traffic signs and rules.

The meeting also condemned the practice of demanding compensation and penalty after accident and suggested all to follow traffic rules and regulations to avoid such fine and compensation etc.

Khimhun invites entrepreneurs to invest in Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR, Nov 23: Parliamentary Secretary (Trade & Commerce) Phosum Khimhun urged the entrepreneurs from India as well as ASEAN countries to invest in Arunachal Pradesh by exploring its abundant natural resources.

Addressing the ‘Exclusive Investors Meet’ on the second day of the North East Business Submit in Dibrugarh, Assam today, Khimhun highlighted the unique natural advantages enjoyed by the frontier state in various sectors, including tourism, agriculture, horticulture, mineral, forestry and described the state as the future powerhouse of the country.

He also informed about the adoption of the public-private-partnership (PPP) policy by the state government paving way for massive private investments in various sectors of the state.

Director of Trade and Commerce Tokong Pertin while participating in the meet highlighted the state’s scenario and detailed about the present developmental activities in the state.

“The prospective investors are keen on tourism sector, hydro-power, agro/horti food processing, especially organic produces but they are apprehensive about the state’s connectivity and power,” Pertin said. He informed the prospective investors that the package of activities aimed at placing Arunachal in the frontline is the focus of the State Government at present.

“Trans Arunachal Highway is under various stages of development and the State Government is also giving momentum to the various hydro-power projects which are likely to be completed within a couple of years, leading to a path-breaking for the overall development of the state through various investment sectors,” Pertin said. He further informed that the Govt. of India and the Govt. of Union of Myanmar has recently signed MoU for opening Border Haat across Pangsau Pass and re-opening of trade route through Pangsau Pass along the historic Stilwell Road will greatly improve the trade relation between India and Myanmar and will also connect the nation with South East Asian countries.

Yesterday, Union DoNER Minister Paban Singh Ghatowar inaugurated the three day Summit. In his speech, Ghatowar highlighted the prospect of high economic growth in the region due to the abundance of natural resources. The DoNER Minister said that the abundant natural resources of the region ought to be utilized properly for an accelerated economic progress of the people of the region.

Two provincial Chief Ministers from Myanmar – U Tha Aye from Sagain region and U Ye Myint from Mandalay region – said that Indian investment is welcome in their two states and suggested sectors like hospitality, tourism and mining as immediate possibilities.

Around 200 delegates from South East Asian countries, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and Laos, apart from domestic delegates are attending the summit.

The 9th edition of NEBS with the theme “Building Bridges with ASEAN” is jointly organized by DoNER Ministry and Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

Livestock dying due to lack of proper treatment facility

DAPORIJO, Nov 23: Livestock farming, especially breeding of mithun in Upper Subansiri district has become a difficult task for the farmers. Domestic animals, including Mithun are dying in large number every year incurring heavy loss to the owners due to lack of proper treatment facility.

Many of the cattle upgradation centers (CUC) established in many places in the district are lying defunct in pathetic condition due to Govt.’s apathy. One such centre is the CUC at Bogne village under Taliha circle. Though it was established in 1981-82, the villagers are not getting any benefit from it. The livestock owners face great problem whenever there is an outbreak of disease like foot and mouth disease (FMD).

“We become helpless whenever there is an outbreak of disease like FMD in livestock because there is no medicine, veterinarians or other staff in the CUC for treatment of our animals,” lamented a villager of Bogne.

They allege that the authority did not take any interest to make the CUC functional despite submission of several representations highlighting their problems.

There is no point to discuss anymore on script: VC

ITANAGAR, Nov 23: “There is no point to discuss anymore on Adi script as further discussion on the issue will create more confusion,” said Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) Vice Chancellor and former Adi Agom Kébang (AAK) president Prof. Tamo Mibang. Prof. Mibang was addressing a workshop on Adi script (Mére) organized by AAK in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi University Adi Students’ Union (RGUAdiSU) at RGU campus, Rono Hills today.

“Due to different interpretation from different writers on our writing style, we could not maintain uniformity in our writing system till date. The AAK’s recent initiative on Adi script should be appreciated and endorsed by all,” he said.

“It is worth mentioning here that this script is already used and tried by different writers of our community in the past. So, this is not a new thing, this is just a re-introduction of writing system which suits our writing purposes,” the VC added.

“Though there is variation in our dialects due to geographical factors, we finally developed a script that is easy to use,” Prof Mibang added.

While appreciating Arunachal Aung, he said, “This paper will work as our ambassador. I personally appeal our people to subscribe Arunachal Aung and learn Adi language writing technique/system for our future benefits.

“Our people started reading and writing before India’s independence but there is no visible improvement/ uniformity in our writing system. So in order to give life to our writing system and language, AAK has adopted the writing style which is presently being used by Arunachal Aung,” stated AAK president Níní Pértín in his key note address.

He further said, “We should see the feasibility to find place in 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution which is our ultimate goal. The first step is unification in writing system, he added.

AAK general secretary Obang Tayeng while referring various books written by different authors, said that the language we speaks are very vulnerable this days as so many minor languages are dying this world.

While stating that the language will give people to identify themselves, he said, “We need to have a workable script to bring concrete working system for the betterment of upcoming generations.

“The scrip is our part of life and we must know it,” Tayeng added.

RGU Computer Science department associate professor Ani Taggu gave a vivid presentation on writing system/technique through a power point presentation to the gathering.

Assistant Professor Dr. Otem Moyong also spoke on the occasion.

In-service B.Ed student Ataying Pangkak also appreciated Arunachal Aung and urged people to maintain a uniform writing system for our own benefit.

RGU Adi Students’ Union president Kangkim Lego and former RGU AdiSU president Ayem Lego also spoke.

Associate professors Oyi Dai, Tabang Mibang, Tatum Mibang, in-service B.Ed students Mídíng Pértín, Mipang Duggong, Tajong Tamut were also present on the occasion along with other students.

Special cells to deal with crime against women, human trafficking

CHANGLANG, Nov 23: Parliamentary Secretary Thinghaap Taiju inaugurated the much awaited ‘Crime Against Women’ (CAW) cell and “Anti-Human Trafficking (ANTH) unit at Old Club building here today in presence of Changlang Deputy Commissioner Chanchal Yadav, SP Vijay Kumar, ADC (HQ) Isha Khosla, Changlang ZP chairperson Marina Kenglang, officers and general public.

Speaking on the occasion, Taiju said opening of the “Crime Against Woman Cell” and “Anti-Human Trafficking Unit” here would definitely help contain crime against women and children. He said that administration should take all precautions to prevent anti-social activities to make the district crime free. Appreciating the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police for opening the CAW & AHTU, he urged people to cooperate with the District Administration for peace and tranquility in the district.

Expressing happiness over opening of a gymnasium, he appealed all to make best use of it.

Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar hoped that the CAW unit and AHTU will help address the issues of crime against women and human trafficking effectively. He advised the womenfolk to not hesitate to lodge complaint with police against any crime related to women.

National Lok Adalat held

BOMDILA, Nov 23: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bomdila conducted the National Lok Adalat at Kameng Conference hall, Bomdila today. Chairman, DLSA Deputy Commissioner AK Singh, SDO (J) P Sora, Circle Officers Dolma Wangjom and Koj Yabyang conducted the 42 cases of Bomdila comprising 25 compoundable cases, 1 forest case, 2 cases of U/S 125 CrpC, 1 NI Act case and 13 Labor Act cases.

Due to absence of complainant or accused or both in some cases, only a few cases could be disposed-off. Three compoundable cases were disposed-off and one case U/S 125 CrpC was taken up. The rest including the Forest Act case was referred to the regular court. The District Labor and Employment Office has filed petition for trial of three numbers of Labor Act case in regular court.

Of the 8 criminal cases of Singchung administrative centre, only one case could be disposed-off as accused or the complainant or both remained absent in the other cases.

At Roing, altogether 20 cases were disposed in the Lok Adalat headed by Sandeep Kumar Singh, Assistant Commissioner in-charge Deputy Commissioner and organized by the District Legal Services Authority at Anchal Samity Hall today.

Out of the 20 cases disposed, 19 were Bakijai cases under SBI Roing in which the defaulters were asked to pay the dues within the stipulated time. One criminal case was also settled out of 10 cases. Proceedings of the other cases, including pending cases under civil and MACT could not be disposed due to absence of complainant or accused or both in some cases.

At Ziro, a total of 34 cases have been settled out of 43 taken up in the Lok Adalat by district legal service authority, Lower Subansiri, informed Extra Assistant Commissioner JT Obi. The remaining cases could not be settled as the parties did not turn up before the lok adalat. DIPRO
